Democracy must be learned by each generation; this is the YMCA's Youth and Government motto. In the El Dorado Delegation,
we strive to learn about our state government while developing friendships to last a life time. Every year we make three
trips. Two trips take us to Camp Roberts in San Luis Obispo where we train in our selected roles. Students can chose from
joining the Model Legislature, Model Court, National Issues Commission, Lobbyist Program, Assistant Legislative Analyst Program,
Press Corps, and Legislative Pages, the Special Investigative Panel or the Boards of Education or Equalization. On the third
trip, over 2500 students from around the state come together, each adding our own working part, to create a government modeled
after our State's. We even learn a little from the professions. In the past two years we have been honored with having Governor
Arnold and Attorney General Bill Lockyer speak at our conference in Sacramento. Every year, over 2500 students participate
in Youth and Government. And every year, the 60+ El Dorado students come home talking about the great time they had.
